The Tegnùe of Cavallino Treporti
An underwater paradise of nature and silence
Just off the coast of Cavallino Treporti, in the heart of the Upper Adriatic, lie the Tegnùe—fascinating underwater rock formations unique to this area. Their name comes from the Venetian dialect and means “to hold back”, as they once caught fishing nets, making navigation and traditional fishing difficult.
Today, these 'coral reefs of our sea' represent a precious marine ecosystem, home to an extraordinary variety of fauna and flora. Their vibrant seabeds are loved by divers, snorkelers, and marine biologists alike, who find here a protected and evocative environment to explore.
The Tegnùe are a perfect example of how nature can surprise us—even underwater, just a few kilometres from the shore.
A hidden beauty that tells the story of the sea and invites us to respect the environment.
